Sylwia Presley via Skype spoke about effects of new media on transparency in society

Sylwia Presley, editor of Global voices, joined via Skype to speak on the effect of new media on transparency within society. She presented Global voices project and internet platform used for publishing and sharing studies on promoting transparency through the use of new technologies from all around the world using websites and internet databases. All case studies are presented on a world map and categorized for types of case study projects. The website platform is therefore an international hub of such projects enabling people around the world to share experiences in similar efforts and projects
The project included various organizations around the world dedicated to transparency, and in the context of the Balkan region she gave an overview of the most relevant organizations of this type in central and Eastern Europe, such as sejmometar (Truth-o-meter) from Poland and Fair Play alliance from Slovakia as well as others. Sylwia also gave a brief overview of reports published by Global voices on the use of technology by citizens and media, processes and trends, in promoting transparency and accountability of governments around the world.
