POINT Conference (Political Accountability and New Technologies) is a regional conference of civil society organizations from 7 countries of Southeast Europe, which are intensively engaged in using new technologies in their work, but it will also involve the participation of organizations, individuals, groups and institutions dealing with specific topics that the conference is focused on. POINT 6.0 is the sixth edition and a logical continuation of the successful POINT conferences, held in February 2012 and May 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Specific topics or areas which will be in focus of POINT Conference in context of use of new technologies, include government accountability monitoring, open data, success of technology-related projects of civil society, using new technologies for advocacy, monitoring different branches of government and many more.

The POINT Conference will include a series of lectures, speeches, multimedia presentations, panel discussion, workshops and Skype conferences based on the selected topics, all with the participation of local, regional and global civil society activists, media experts, media representatives, experts in new technologies, developers, bloggers, as well as representatives of institutions and the business sector. Conference will foster debates on the issues, define the basic problems in these fields and present concrete examples and solutions in a dynamic way, by using new technologies and visual tools, along with active participation by conference participants, as well as internet users.

POINT conference aims to become a platform for civil society’s use of new technologies – to become a tool for education about the use of new technologies and social networks; a forum for exchanging opinions and experiences; an incubator for ideas, projects and strategies development; a virtual space for networking and informing of all socially conscious Internet users; and a social network for exploring, searching for partners and associates and coalitions building.

POINT has several segments:

POINT live – conference in Art Cinema “Kriterion” in Sarajevo – will include presentations, lectures, multimedia, panels, Skype conversations, films and discussions. POINT live will accommodate three full days of conference work, with over 50 speakers, presenters and panelists from BiH, the region, Europe and the world.

POINT online – the conference facilities will also be open for the online community. All sessions will be broadcasted live on POINT conference’s website and users will be able to send questions via social networks, get actively engaged in live presentations, comment on sessions and presenters, and participate in online discussions. All presentations, the conference program and all important links will also be a part of the site.
