POINT conference is a unique event that features various activities for promoting political accountability and new technologies world wide, with focus on the region of Southeast Europe.
Each year we host the most interesting speakers from around the world, practitioners from around the Balkans region and experts in the field of modern transparency and accountability discussing current political affairs and civil society engagement.
Even though POINT conference is a highly professional gathering, it also offers great networking experience in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in Art Kino Kriterion.
This year’s program will start in the morning of May 17. It will include two days of presentations and panels, followed by workshops which will be held on Saturday, May 19.
POINT conference will cover important topics in the field of political accountability and technology from last 12 months, both in the region and the world. That includes important elections and election campaigns around the world, fake news and propaganda, models and tools for hybrid democracy, online security and privacy, investigative journalism and other important topic.
Last years’ POINT conference hosted guest speakers like Masha Alekhina with Pussy Riot Theatre, Scott Carpenter – managing director of Google Jigsaw, Thomas Borwick – the CTO of Vote Leave Campaign for Brexit, Alistair Shawcross – one of the most prominent researchers on the topic of fake news and propaganda and Dejan Vinkovic from Oraclum – the company that predicted the victory of Donald Trump in the US elections. Previous to last year we had a pleasure of hosting people like Michael Slaby, CTO of Obama Campaigns in 2008 and 2012, Bill Adair – the founder of Politifact, Smary McCarthy from Icelandic parliament, Jillian York from Electronic Frontier Foundation, Amr Sobhy, the founder of Morsimeter in Egypt, Ian Schuler, director of Development Seed, and many others.
