Online mapping, though it didn’t exist until recently, is increasingly used in crisis and emergency situations as well as during periods of important events such as elections, but also in the work of numerous civic initatives.
Jaroslav Valuch, a co-founder and one of the coordinators of Standby Task Force – an online volunteer community for live mapping. At the POINT conference, he will hold a presentation on the best ways to map data and the tools used for mapping. In 2010, Jaroslav participated in the development of the Ushahidi platform for crisis mapping after the earthquake inHaiti, and later became the representative of Ushaidi in Port-au-Princeu.
