Milanka Kovačević

Milanka Kovačević is journalist born in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, Department of Journalism and Communication. Since 2003, she lives in RS/BiH.

Milanka was employed at the local radio station Radio-Gacko as a journalist-editor. She has written for numerous media outlets in BiH, mostly dealing with topics and issues she considers important for society, such as corruption, transition, social and environmental problems, social justice, and war crimes.

In 2018, in collaboration with her colleagues, Milanka launched a web portal called “Direkt”, where they critically approach reality and, in an extremely rigid environment such as Herzegovina, raise topics of crucial importance – they review the work of institutions and the corrupt practices of individuals in positions of power. She lives and works in Gacko.
