Point 8.0 starts on May 16th!
The eighth edition of POINT Conference (Political Responsibility and New Technologies) will take place in Sarajevo in Brew Imperial Society from 16th to 18th of May and will gather over 200 activists and representatives of civil society organizations from the region of Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as other regions dealing with the use of new technologies in advocating an open, transparent and safer society.
Organizers of the largest regional civil society conference devoted to crossroads between civil society, politics and technology have made efforts to find some of the most relevant topics and speakers in the program this year. This year’s conference will focus on disinformation strategies and operations, artificial intelligence, Internet censorship, the role of influencers, the responsibilities of large companies for violence, and the multitude of projects and initiatives of civil society.
At this year’s conference, we expect over 70 speakers from over 20 countries, and more than 30 different sessions will be held within the three days of the conference.
POINT is the largest conference of this type in the region and seeks to be a platform for civil society that encourages the use of new technologies – tool for education about the use of new technologies and social networks; forum for exchange of views and experiences; incubator for the development of ideas, projects and strategies; virtual place for networking and informing socially conscious Internet users; as well as a social network for exploring and searching for partners and associates and building coalitions.
POINT 8.0 is organized by ACTION SEE network, whose members are “Zašto Ne“ from BiH, CDT – Center for Democratic Transition from Montenegro, CRTA – Center for Research, Transparency and Accountability from Serbia, Metamorphosis Foundation from North Macedonia in cooperation with National Endowment for Democracy, The Balkan Trust for Democracy, TechSoup Foundation from Poland, US Embassy in BiH, Digital Communications Network, Outriders from Poland, GONG from Croatia, TransparenCEE Network and Friedrich Naumann Stiftung.
