Point Talks topic of the month: Elections during the pandemic
During previous editions of the POINT conference, electoral processes and elections in many countries have been the focus of numerous presentations and panel discussions, so we decided to make this topic the first topic of the month at POINT Talks.
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many elections scheduled to occur in 2020. While more than 60 countries, according to the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), postponed elections at the beginning of the year, many other countries went forward with their elections.
Among the countries who held elections are Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, so the first online panel at POINT Talks will be dedicated to the electoral processes in those counties. Municipal elections are held in Bosnia and Herzegovina in November and December of 2020.
According to many, historical elections happened in the USA. After we previously discussed many topics concerning the campaigning in this country, predictions of results, but also the outcome of 2016 elections, in days after the inauguration of the new US president Joe Biden, we will have a chance to discuss this topic even further.
Also, we are preparing some interesting interviews and content about the 2020 elections in France, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and other countries who held elections under the special circumstances.
PointTalks as an online community building platform is designed to respond to the needs of the community, regarding the topics of interest and importance of networking, exchange of knowledge and experiences.
Point Talks will offer various content through the Topic of the Month – from live online panel discussions and presentations on a particular topic, individual interviews with relevant speakers and panelists, to numerous content from previous editions of the POINT conference related to the topic of the month. Therefore, we designed the content as “60-second” interviews, feature live story, PointTalks live, but we are also planning various online presentations and workshops.
