Apply to be a speaker at the POINT 11 Conference!

April 7, 2023 | by: Sofija

Are you a civil society activist, journalist, academic, technologist using technology for the public good of some kind? Are you looking for a place where you can present your idea, project, or research? Do you have relevant experience in implementing or developing projects related to the use of new technologies in fields of government accountability monitoring and/or open data? Are you fluent in English?

If the answer is yes and you are searching for a great opportunity to share your work related to technology, social good, political processes or similar, and you want to be heard by people from the region (and wider), that means you are in the right place — we would love to have you on the stage and get to know more about your experiences!

This year, the conference will be held June 15th-17th, at Sarajevo’s Youth Centre (Dom mladih).

We invite everyone who works in the intersection of activism, political accountability and new technologies in Southeast Europe (SEE), to submit a proposal for a short (up to 12 min) presentation about their work in the field.

We are also welcoming those willing to share their story about the success of a technology-related project(s) of civil society or the use of new technologies for advocacy or monitoring different branches of government — apply to be a speaker and inspire others!

Send your submission using this short form.

The POINT Conference (Political Accountability and New Technologies) is the largest conference of this type in the SEE region. It seeks to be a platform for civil society that encourages the use of new technologies.

This conference came out of the growing need of organizations in the region working on accountability and transparency of governments to share experiences and learn about different initiatives around the world.

Since its first edition in 2012, the POINT Conference has become a unique meeting place for civic activists and civil society representatives from SEE, but also from all over the world, as well as a platform for exchanging ideas and innovative solutions to promote a responsible and open society.

POINT is a great place for networking and potential cooperation. It offers the possibility of learning about initiatives dealing with political accountability projects, open data in democracy, technology tools for transparency and accountability, current events, and the impact of technology.

The POINT Conference is organized by UG “Zašto ne” (Citizens’ Association – CA “Why not”), in partnership with Mixer, ACTION SEE and SEE Check networks, as well as the Western Balkans Antidisinformation Hub. It is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), Balkan Fund for Democracy (BTD), DT Institute, and the European Commission through the Thematic Programme for Civil Society Organisations.
