Leila Bičakčić is one of the founding members of the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIN), award winning organization, modelled after US non-profit media agencies.
Specializing in reporting on corruption, nexus between political elite and organized crime groups, monitoring of use of public funds, and politician assets., CIN stories led to indictment against former Prime Minster, dismissal of international judge, indictment in one of the major corruption cases in BIH, resulting in final court verdict. For its work, CIN won a number of national and international awards, among which are Daniel Pearl award, Shining Star Award and most recently, CIN story on vote buying was a finalist for European Press Prize as best story on corruption in2021 in Europe.
Leila’s responsibilities include overall management, investigative projects’ planning, analysis and strategic development. A special focus of Leila’s work is research on new models of sustainable media organization and new business models in the BiH and Estern Balkans/ regional context, the transition from traditional media to new digital models and the convergence of media content. A Sarajevo native, she studied basic physics and economics at the Sarajevo University. Fluent in English and Serbian / Croatian / Montenegrin / Bosnian languages.
