Ximena Villagran

Ximena is a Guatemalan journalist and currently the COO of Maldita.es. She is certified in News Product Management, specialized Investigative Journalism and Data and expert in management and funding of media outlets. She has collaborated in several media outlets in several countries and was a fellow at School of Data and the International Center for Journalism as US State Department Fellow, where she specialized in journalistic entrepreneurship.

She has also worked as a data consultant and professor in data journalism and access to information for Internews and Thomson Foundation, among others. She has taught at several universities on data journalism, transparency and project management. She was executive director of El Intercambio -a transmedia data journalism production company based in Central America.
