Maarten Schenk is a Belgian fact checker who co-founded the U.S.A.-based fact checking website leadstories.com which uses the Trendolizer engine that he developed to detect trending content on the internet and to map networks of related websites.
In February 2019 Lead Stories was accepted into Facebook’s Third Party Fact Checking Partnership. In 2020 Lead Stories also started doing anti-disinformation work for TikTok. Lead Stories has now grown to about 50 employees and freelancers scattered across four continents and doing work in nine languages.
