Kateryna Shymkevych is a PhD in Historical Sciences, Lecturer,  Associate Professor at the Department of Law and Public Administration, Zaporizhzhia Institute of Economics and Information Technologies (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine). Also, she is the Head of the Analytical Center for Balkan Studies.

Her scientific and professional interests include the Yugoslav wars, war crimes, dealing with the past in the former Yugoslav states, Russian propaganda, disinformation and misinformation in the Balkan region.

She has expertise in war crimes, interethnic conflicts, and the role of intergovernmental and NGOs in post-conflict recovery; writing publications, analytical reports and recommendations.
