Divij Joshi

Divij is a lawyer and researcher studying technology and society, based in London and India. He is a Research Fellow in Digital Societies at ODI Global, where his work focusses on the political economy and global politics of digital technologies.

He completed his doctoral research from University College London in 2026, where his thesis examined how processes of platformisation and datafication in India are shaping the political economy of statecraft and informational capitalism in India.

He has more than a decade of experience conducting research and advocacy on the governance of emerging technologies. As a Mozilla Tech Policy Fellow in Trustworthy AI, he created the ‘AI Observatory‘ and conducted pioneering research on AI in India. He has consulted on technology policy research with with the AI Now Institute, the Ada Lovelace Institute and the Open Government Partnership; with Amnesty International; with the Centre for Law and Policy Research, the Centre for Internet and Society, and Vidhi Karnataka. His research and writing has been cited by the House of Lords and the Canadian Commission on Democratic Expression, and featured in Al Jazeera, The Indian Express, The Financial Times, Caravan Magazine, Seminar, Forbes, The Wire, Wired Magazine, and the MIT Tech Review, among others.
