Hicham Yezza has more than two decades of experience working at the intersection of technology, media and policy. He is currently Principal Data Scientist for Responsible AI at the BBC, where he leads work evaluating AI models and tools, including their impact on the organisation’s editorial and public service values. He is part of the team behind the BBC-EBU project on News Integrity in AI Assistants, which examines the impact of AI on news and information integrity, and is lead author of the News Integrity in AI Assistants Toolkit.
He combines an academic and technical background in computer science, AI and data science with extensive experience in the media sector — as editor-in-chief, columnist and broadcaster. He has consulted for UN agencies, public bodies and NGOs, and more recently has provided technical and strategic advice on AI adoption, integration and transformation to organisations operating in the media and technology sectors.
